Hi all,
Andrew Tagliafico has contacted me about discussing the feasibility of the Kibbie Dome Annual in 2016 and beyond with the Indoor FF community.
Bluntly, he feels that there is not enough interest to support it, but he wants to get input from the community before making a decision.
Relevant information:
- The cost of the event would need to be split among attendees. The cost of recent Kibbie contests was about $6K. The school may charge more in 2016, but Andrew is hoping it will be similar.
- The event would be held around late June / early July, as it has been in the past.
- The 2014 Nats at Kibbie did not draw as many people as was anticipated. Accessibility may be a factor
- The F1D Team Selection contests that have been held at Kibbie have boosted participation. It is possible that since most F1D flyers’ programs are already portable, it is easier to fly to the site.
- The next US F1D Team Selection contest is in 2017. The site has not yet been chosen.
- If we choose to cancel one or more Kibbie contests, it may make it harder to schedule one in the future.
- “Big” events have drawn international participation.
- Perhaps holding the Kibbie Dome Annual less frequently than once a year will generate sustainable participation levels (Kibbie Biennial?)
Feel free to discuss.
I have created a poll that you can use to indicate your intention to participate in a 2016 contest at Kibbie.
I am going to share the results with Andrew in about a week.
