Don't make it more complicated than being willing to ask questions.
I made contact with Rolls Royce by looking them up in the yellow pages. I
called the number I found and told the person who answered what I wanted to
know which was "Who do I talk to?" She connected me with the public
relations office. There, I was connected with a P.R. person and I was told
I should make a presentation. I assembled some stuff, we set a date, met
and they liked the idea. I had a check within a week.
Yes, it requires some thought and planning but it's not . . . well, insert
cliche here . . .
There's the Float documentary online for educating anyone unfamiliar with
what it's all about, the organizations behind indoor like FIA, AMA, clubs,
that give substance and the history of indoor flying that can be reffered
to as need be.
I'm out of indoor far enough that I can't volunteer, except with an
occasional idea. Starting with three or four large aircraft industry
companies like, yes, Boeing, and doing a modicum of googling should give
some idea of where to go in those companies.
