An ill-conceived rules change is an ill-conceived rule change, regardless of who it primarily affects. It potentially affects everyone covered by the rule. It's stated goal is not defendable, in my opinion.

Perhaps I should use the term youths. I know the AMA distinguishes different age categories, but I always refer to anyone 18 or under as a junior for the sake simplicity. So yes, juniors and seniors.
I hadn't considered gliders, but it sounds like you need to do some work on your unlimited glider :)

When I started flying gliders the Cat 1 and Cat 2 Open records were held by one set of flights with a standard class glider. And of course the current Cat 1 Open records in both classes are held by one set of flights with a standard class glider. Most Open records are not obtainable without a model specifically built for the rules, so at least in indoor it would be extremely rare to break 2 records with one flight. This is much more common with juniors. I broke both the LPP and PP records in a couple categories when I was a junior, and I know others have done the same.
