Gentlemen...
When you look at Leo's results, I really think you should look seriously at any rule to ban the front ends. Think of what would have happened at the WC if the ruling was changed before the contest. There would have been two teams eligible to compete! These are the best of the best and even then they used a non- BOM hub.
If you want more people to fly the event, then you should really consider a rule allowing the purchasing of the hub. There is so much more to the model then just the front end. Yes, it is a feature that is used, but by allowing the purchased unit, it will get more people flying the event, not just the craftsman that happens to have the capability to manufacture a VP hub. And, those that do make their own, may have an advantage because they can customize it for their particular model.
AMA changed their BOM rule and it was interesting to see the results. Nothing changed. There was not a sudden outburst of factory airplanes dominating the events. FAI is different, but that was because of the high tech needed and well above the average modeler's skills. All carbon and heavy machining definitely limits the number of folks that can build it.
I am not saying you change the BOM but do highly recommend that you consider allowing purchased hubs to keep the sport going and growing.
