If a person has an FAI stamp for one year and then gets a new one the next
year is the number the same? If not then it seems like a major problem to
remove an old number in order to put on a new one. I guess you could just
mark out the old one but people who build work of art models probably
wouldn't be happy about that.

The best possible solution would be to not require numbers for AMA contests.
