Gary,

The point of the two minute max is simple. It prevents guys like you and me
from doing three and four minutes and making the event completely
inaccessible to the beginner. Do you see many raw beginners flying EZB or
A-6? Both examples of Beginner events that have been thoroughly and
inexorably ruined for the beginner.

Ron Williams points out that all this is "bullshit" and that everything is
just fine and we should just make a new beginner event every time an old
one gets taken over by the experts. What I am humbly trying to suggest on
this iteration we make a beginner event that can stay a beginner event.
We've been doing it the other way for at least forty years. Why not try
something different?

By the way, is this the same Ron Williams whose book I read as a kid, read
so many times it was in tatters? And then got a hole puncher and collated
the pages in a binder? If so, it's an honor to converse with you, Sir.
