So if there's maybe $50 worth of material in one model, where do these elevated projected prices for kits come from? To me, anyway, the function of the kit is to gather all the correct parts and materials together in one place, and divide them up into one-model quantities. This makes the purchase minimums moot, and divides to costs of all the S&H's among many kit buyers. Then add on a little something for the producer, so he's not running a charity.
