The elevated price is coming from the forms required to build the kit. Its
true that there is less than 70 dollars worth of materials in an F1D when
it flies (depending on covering and VP), but there are some significant
expenses in forming. A prop block is needed, a tailboom form, a motor stick
form, some scheme for attaching the boron and away to cut out the ribs and
spars. I'm probably leaving something out but you get the idea.
