The 7" motor stick/ motor tube would have roughly a .3 g target.

 

I think you can get away with a 7" solid motor stick, but the rest of the air frame (extension and boom) would still have to be rolled.

 The added 0.2g and shorter motor tube may also make a carbon motor tube viable.
 

 I would advise that you build a rolled motor tube, though. Using .3g for the motor stick means there will be zero extra left for everything else. For your first F1D, it would be best to distribute the extra 0.20 g over the entire model.
