I have been thinking about the new rules 'D and have been wondering something...if we are talking about shortening the hook to hook distance to 6", would it be possible to use a solid MS, 6-7" long? If braced with boron, would it be strong enough to withstand the torque of an F1D motor? What about building an F1L style airframe with a larger wing and overall length? Or does the greater model weight and less rubber prevent a modified F1L from working as a new rules F1D? I am sure my ignorance as a builder/Flier is showing right now, but based on the performance of the modern F1L's, I was wondering about the viability of such a model for new rules F1D. Someone school me please.

Under other circumstances, I would fly to the new rules at Kent in two weeks. Unfortunately, my schedule does not give me any time for modifications in the next 2 weeks.
