Please read Gordon Buckland's article "Soaring needs your help" in
the May issue of Model Aviation, page 111.
Our own involvement in indoor activities is negligible, but we do
have a very heavy involvement in the RC Soaring scene as editors of
RC Soaring Digest.
RC soaring enthusiasts recently took up a collection of funds to send
a second representative to the latest CIAM meeting as there were so
many meetings (separate RC Soaring disciplines) that one rep was
deemed insufficient. The new AMA President, although seemingly
campaigning on a platform of greater WC participation, has come to
endorse a reduction in participation. In one RC soaring class, F3J
(thermal duration with hand-tow launching with two tow men) the AMA
will no longer be providing financial support to the WC tow men.
Putting pressure on your District VP is certainly a step in the right
direction.
