Bill or anyone lse that wants to comment,
I have never built a catapult launched glider (except one that blew up on the first full launch) but would like to someday, just to give Tem Johnson some competition in our local Cat 1 & 2 sites. That is the reason for the beginner questions. Do you use something like sand paper for the rear grip? I would assume that on your Cat. 1 & 2 glider with the very light wood fuselage you cannot grip it very tightly without crushing the wood. Are there any special precautions you use to avoid damage in the grip area?

Here is an indoor topic. I just received my 2012 symposium & read Bill Gowen's article about his WIF 7 catapult launched glider. There is a lot of interesting construction information on the plans. And a very entertaining article, too Bill, my question is: where do you grip the fuselage during launching?
