Silicone oil health effects

After buying some silicone oil for use as a rubber lube I started wondering about the health effects of skin contact. It is apparently used in a lot of products that are specifically for long term contact - like skin creams and hair products - but some people are allergic to it. I also noticed that there are references to the material evaporating. This is important to know for our purposes so I'm going to do some tests on lubed rubber to see how the weight varies over time.
