On the WIF7 the two carbon rods on the sides of the fuse extend all the
way to the end of the fuse behind the tail. Sometimes I wrap the stinger
with a few strands of kevlar to help hold it together. My launch rubber
for Cat 1 is very small - usually in the .040" range - and doesn't
require the kind of grip force that high ceiling gliders need. The
stinger is very easy to damage so I try to be careful when hooking up
for a launch. I hold the glider by the stinger with the nose down while
hooking up the rubber and then keep the glider under tension as I raise
it to the launch position.

BTW - Leo discovered an error on my WIF7 plan that has been published in
a lot of different places. The flat span of the wing is listed as
13.125". This should be 12.125".
