CO2 is becoming somewhat obscelete in the US because of all the electric systems, but I still see them on scale models now and then. Biggest problem is the expense of the critters. It's also getting hard to make a single-engine CO2 scale job which is competitive with electric scale models in FAC events where multiengine electrics run off maxes like a jog in the park. Even if we see a target time or "flight realism" score system arise, electrics will have the advantage.

Local contests still give CO2 models a chance. Dave Rees was still flying them in small contests when he passed away recently.
