Thanks Jake, that does all make sense now. I was thinking that only 3 revs could easily give errors but I suppose one could time, say, 6 or 12 revs and then divide the answers by 2 or 4 if accuracy was a worry. Three revs of course does give about as close as you could expect to a 'Spot check'.

You are quite right of course that rps is no better than rpm; it's just that rubber model props usually seem to be quoted that way and it is the way I do any propeller design calculations.

I'm guessing that a 'Stroke' watch is intended for coxes in rowing boats.
