Just think 10 to 1 - a 10" diameter on the crank, a 1" dia. on the
hook, may be a bit clumsy.;-) .
As an aside, on the wind genny's we build for school comp, we do use
single gear up, 8 or 10 inch on "fan", 1/2" or so on generator. For this
year, I'm gonna see if I can talk a kid into building a vertical axis
spinner with about a 36" drive pulley to the 1" genny. Wonder, would
that chain handle something like that ?
