No, don't worry, Katie, and welcome to the party, Phase II! In Phase I all the above misgivings were expressed in various ways and tones. By now, very few fliers will claim that this event "ascending" to AMA level is going to be for the sake of newcomers who need some amount of "competition protection" from very experienced fliers. The local club scene is best for nurturing offspring, and for that you can create any easy class you wish.
As before, A6 will cater to the "needs" of those who already show up, and have paid contest fees for some years, and enjoy A6. The case is also sometimes made (ala JB) that present indoor FF population will be the de facto present and future anyhow.
