Quite right Tony, a wing post rounder offer. Skilled builders just use a vee of sandpaper in their fingers but the less dexterous of us, such as me, need all the help I can get. The device is not foolproof, the important thing is not to let the post get too deep into the thin end of the vee where it will jamb and break. I avoid this by holding the thing as in the photograph with a finger either side governing the depth at which the post sits in the vee. I also take off the corners of the square post with a sharp blade before starting on the sanding. When sanding I combine a rotary twiddle with the fingers and a slow in and out longitudinal movement.
