Since I fly mostly beginner models with relatively high minimum weights I probably cover tighter than most people and tighter than I should. For some reason when I get to the point of introducing slack into the film I can never get the wrinkles out. I think this is just a matter of practice and forcing yourself to do the right thing.

With a strong outline like an LPP wing and sprayed 3M you can drop one spar onto the film and roll the rest of the outline onto the film. With the dry method you put the outline on the film and work with the positioning until it looks right before you put on the adhesive. There's really no valid excuse for messing up since you don't glue anything until it's right.

  Hi, Mark and Bill,

Very very helpful information. Wouldn't you know it, I have a 0.15g F1L wing waiting to be covered. This is my 3rd F1L wing; the cover job on the first two were so so.

One thing that I'm missing is how your cover is so tight. At first I assumed that it was due to Mark's method of applying the glue mixture: film glues to wing and the glue pulls film tight. Then I thought it is how you lay the film on the covering frame and adjust the film/frame until the film is "drum tight", as Mark wrote. Thank you for clarifying.
