Don Sulsarczyk,

I was reading the Experimental Autogiro rules recently. I think that we should either delete the event, or also permit electric power limited to one 10-mAh LiPo cell. Even if we permitted electric, I'm not sure that I could make one fly but a smaller prop with lower torque would help somewhat..

Revised autogiro rules for the regular event would be desirable since the current rules simply give a tandem with some drag added on top. Don't get me wrong - I like flying autogiro and was one of the last holdouts at the USIC before the event was dropped due to lack of participation. The autogiros are visually interesting in flight, but everyone knows that the visual effect is misleading. Maybe you did too good a job with your rotor system that all of us copied and used! <GRIN>

I do not know how to write better rules for the regular autogiro event.

If rules can not be agreed upon then passing a half hearted A-6 will be
a disaster. No one will fly it and they will stick to the non AMA
version. It will be as popular as "Experimental Autogiro" which was
passed to eliminate winged autogiros yet no one ever flew it yet it is
in the rule books for 20 years. .
