I have built an A6 - it is pictured on the HPA website in the A6 thread. It gave me no pleasure but I was supporting a friend who was introducing some, mainly R/C, flyers who were having a try at indoor. Other than that I have no justification for comment but certainly no axe to grind.

Should the AMA adopt the A6? What on earth for, it needs more classes like it needs a hole in the head. If it did need a new competition class why would it pick an A6, a model designed to be fundamentally a poor performer and with little scope for development. A model designed for beginners and probably fine for that job but beginners should be learning how to improve in the hobby not expecting National class competitions put on for their benefit.

Whilst on the subject of beginners; my own view has long been that there virtually aren't any except the few who are the offspring of modellers. I also think that over recent years the dumbed down version of our hobby that is fed to potential newcomers has a negative effect. Who is there with a brain who will be impressed by something that can be put together in twenty minutes with a glue stick and a pair of scissors.

Back to the A6. Leave it outside AMA regulation, give a total surface area to be split as the builder wants, put the minimum weight somewhere between 1.5 and 2 g and of course allow plastics or plastics bag covering.
