One problem with recuiting new folks is that many folks aren't into
building. Look at all of the RTF and ARF RC aircraft and heli's. Both,
especially heli's require lots of flight time, but most people find
that fun to do.

Some folks really enjoy building. I make and fly kites. It's the same
thing there, most kiteflyers are not builders and if they had to build
their kites they wouldn't be involved.

So, I propose attracting beginners with relatively low cost planes
that can do a few minutes with proper tuning. Help the beginner tune
their planes and get better times. Once they get hooked, then they can
look at building something.

How many times has someone come up to you and asked how much your
model costs and where can they go to buy one? How many of the same
people are amazed when you tell them you built the model?
