I'm going through my 2 steering poles today fixing sections that have been stepped on. It occurred to me that there really is a use for long fiberglass poles - to lend to people who don't own a pole. This may sound selfish but it's really hard to watch a pole that cost you well over a hundred bucks being used by someone who has no idea how easy they are to damage.
When you have a long carbon pole one thing that will happen is that you will get LOTS of questions about what they are and how they are used. Here's a video that is a mini-bite about pole fishing.
