My suggestion is to order a bearing from Ray Harlan. Yeah, it's pricey
when compared to the cost of wire, but it's quick and easy. These may
be a little heavier than what you want, but you can thin or narrow
the bearing with a file. Ray does international shipping, or at least
he did.

Finger nail polish remover may contain some oil to help with dry skin.
In the USA, I think that finger nail polish is either acetone or
methyl-ethyl-ketone (MEK). both should work. You can get acetone and
MEK from the hardware store (in the USA again). It is much cheaper in
this form than as finger nail polish remover.
