Ray used to sell, in his SO kits, polyimide tubing that could be
used in place of tissue tubes for the wing and stab posts. Polyimide
tubing can be glued to balsa using CA glue once the tubing surface is
roughed up with fine sandpaper. Small Parts (www.smallparts.com) has
the tubing in a 0.064" ID with a 0.003" wall (called triple wall).
This tubing costs $15.50 (plus shipping) for 30" but I find that
expense well worth it so that the kids can avoid rolling tubes (30"
provides sufficient tubing for over 30 planes). Small Parts also
lists polyimide tubing 0.125" ID with a 0.004" wall which could be
used for the Wart tailboom connection. However, that size has been
out of stock for a while. But, as Ray wrote, the tailboom could be
glued to the motorstick (requires a longer storage box as the
tailboom does not separate from the motorstick) and the tailboom
twisted to adjust the flying circle diameter.

By the way, perhaps someone can start the procedure to change the A-6
rules to allow film. Even first time student builders can
successfully use the Super 77 spray glue technique to attach film to
the wing, rudder and stab frames. I have never understood the reason
for the tissue paper requirement.
