Andrews rib is a compression rib that is made with working with 2
templates and is deeper in section in middle and tapers towards the
ends where it is glued to spar. Bob DeBatty rib is a compression type
rib made undersize (same size as middle ribs and then a vertical post
glued to top surface and wire braced with an x pattern giving same
result as andrews or built up compression rib. Todays f1ds are sturdy
enoiugh to get away from all this, however I still use andrews ribs on
all ribs in my wing as this gives a stronger structure for same weight
( I try to get wings at 0.28-0.30 gm) that you can whip with a baloon
line a bit more....
