Even an un-motorer chain saw works.

My retrieving equipment is as follows:

- A slingshot to shoot lead weight with light line over the shoot where
the model hangs. If you miss and shoot one shoot higher, no problem. With
the light line pull a
- heavier line into the tree, both ends to the ground. Quite often you can
just use this thicker rope to swing the shoot and shake the model down, or
get the rope between the tree and the model and move sideways on the
ground to pull the model out of the tree. But if that does not work, then
off comes the
- chain saw. I purchased a trekkers chain saw from - if I recall -
Canadian Tire. This is just a lenght of chain saw chain with pulling rings
both ends. Attach this to the rope, pull over the shoot, and saw it off.
If you are a shoot or two too high, just saw through them until you get
to the shoot where the model rests.

I must add a disclaimer that I have not tried that hands-on. I have tested
the saw in a simulated situation, and it works, but the few times I have
tree'd a model since I bought the saw, I did not have it with me.

Note that there are two kinds of saws. One is just stranded wire with cut
ends protruding. This does not cut too well in fresh wood. The heavier one
is real chain, with the added feature that in only folds towards the
glade, so even high in a tree it automatically turns the cutting edge
towards the shoot. This cuts nicely even into fresh wood.
