Marty,

Go Greek. Use an Omega ring. I just made a ring from a piece of straight
pin wire in the shape of the Greek capital letter omega. The main loop is
about 1/16" and the end loops were about 1/32". It didn't end as pretty as my
drawing, but it works. The base opening should be closed and the openings of
the two smaller loops should be small enough that the limp rubber will not
slip out, the strip must be stretched slightly to get it in. The rubber loop
goes around the neck and the two strands go into the smaller side loops so
they hang out the other side from the top of the rubber loop.
