I've been using a telescopic fiberglass 20' Crappie Pole for many years
now (Got it at a Bass Pro Shop for 20 or 25 bucks). I've fashioned an
extension for it that allows me to reach about 30 or 31 feet up (with my
6' height). It has probably been used to retrieve hundreds of planes
over the years and there has never been an instance where it has
collapsed in use.
