Hi Aki,
    I agree as a wing flexes(spanwise)it straightens
out the flaps. So depending on the stiffness of the
wing in the spanwise direction, this effect also
contribution to the straightening of the flaps. This
is good point and something one needs to pay attention
to when building a flapper. My experience is that it
is bad if when flexing the wings (spanwise) the flaps
pop up suddenly(I refer to this as oil canning,
because it is like what happens when you push on the
bottom of a oil can dispensor, it is actually a
buckling instability issue.) A gradual straighten of
the flaps while flexing the wings spanwise is good.
Are your observations in agreement with what I just
described?
