I usually taper the sides of the motor stick to the desired dimension
but leave the motor stick full height, maybe even start a bit bigger
than what I expect the final size will be. I then build the rest of
the LPP and if I need to remove a little weight then I take it off of
the motor stick. This maximizes the wood in the motor stick.
