Kurt,
I think you will find the blade holder to be a very useful accessory. It
allows you to use the thin carbon steel double edge blades (available from
www.fid.biz & other sources). The holder keeps the blade perfectly vertical &
minimizes any tendency for the blade to follow the redwood base grain, it the blade
is installed according to the directions. The blade tip only needs to barely
touch the redwood base, not got into the redwood.
The aluminum straight edge on my Harlen stripper does not have the two set
screws you mentioned.
