I don't know how you got it to work at all. A prop that's a normal
prop will "pull" if it's turning counterclockwise (from in front of
it) no matter how you mount it. It can't just be "reversed" and turned
into a pusher. You've got to buy a prop that's specifically
manufactured as a "pusher" or wind it backwards (clockwise from in
front).

Some props are made to be mounted only one way. If you mount in in
reverse, the efficiency can drop off very badly. But not so badly it
that it might have caused the problem you described.
