FWIW, there is a thing called "case hardening" in wood when it is kiln
dried if not done correctly. I know it happens in balsa as on some
sheets, when I strip 3/32 strips off a 1/16 sheet the strip will bend
out in a curve sometimes even a few inches. Good wood doesn't do that (;-')
