To add to Fred's reply below.

CA is heavy stuff and for the lighter indoor classes (35 cm/F1D etc)
inappropriate as it adds too much weight during building - it's only
useful for structural repairs. It's also difficult to unglue,
whereas Duco and Ambroid can easily be dissolved and re-set with the
careful application of a solvent on a brush. CA is strong! and can
be useful when repairing major spar failure etc during a contest -
it's also great for gluing your model to yourself!!!

Most flyers use either Duco or Ambroid, thinned with a fast
evaporating solvent such as acetone - the ratios will vary depending
on purpose. Some use a glue gun to apply the mix sparingly, I prefer
to apply all glue with tiny watercolour paint brushes (I used to
paint miniatures!). Fred's trick of grinding through a needle for CA
application is a great idea - thanks Fred.

For sheet prop blades, a good quality, white woodworking glue works
well. This too should be thinned, but with water. Again, apply it
sparingly as too much water soaks the wood and can lead to warpage.

Nick Aikman.

The experts rarely use CA, but some of the rest of us do. If you do
use CA, be sure to use the capillary glue applicator found at
http://www.gryffinaero.com/models/ffpages/tips/cyaapp.html. Another
alternative is to grind through the eye of a needle to make a tiny
fork, and use it the same way to apply tiny microdrops of CA.
