Ignacio,

Havn't actually heard of wire being rolled around a
motorstick, perhaps you are thinking of the tungsten
wire commonly used to brace rolled balsa motorsticks
against the tension of the rubber band. Usually a
balsa post is glued perpendicular to the motorstick in
the center, and a tungsten wire is strung from the
rear rubber hook, over the post, and to the nose
bearing. The link here has an OK diagram, and a great
explanation on rolled tubes.

If you need boron or not depends on the motorstick, as
I have just recently learned. For something as short
as an AROG motorstick, I have quit using boron and it
has been fine just with the tungsten, as per the
advice I got earlier on this forum. Something as big
as an F1D motorstick, I believe boron tends to be
recommended, but I don't have experience with this
size of motorstick though, so don't know for sure.
The thickness and density of the wood you use will
have a bearing on the strength as well as the diameter
of the form you roll it on.

Hope this helps

Chris
