I have avoided the word 'skulduggery' but I think 'specious is' the least I
can say about the reasons for allowing bought hubs to be used. The smell is
going to linger for a long time.

 

About twenty years ago I was Chairman of the English FF technical committee
and a lifelong BOM supporter. However the BOM rule came up again for
consideration and I had to really look at the facts. I did a complete about
face because I could see no way of enforcing such a rule and we got rid of
it. I still stand by that but I more and more realise that it is not
necessarily a matter of was it home made but do we want it anyway. In this
case a rule that VP mechanisms were not to be used would be simple and even
handed.
