From a written rule perspective, a Builder Of the Model rule will be very
difficult to enforce, or even define, at the level you are requesting.
Even assembling a set of pre-made components is technically 'building a
model'.
F1C has had the BOM rule removed recently, but when it was in place, was
any builder expected to build the engine and prop?
Anyone put together a plastic kit and consider that they didn't 'build' it?
We're a close knit and co-operative group, we may need to focus on the
spirit of the rules, rather than the letter.
Does anyone really want to find a loophole in the rules to exploit to gain
an advantage??
I don't see it, we all seem intent on friendly but serious competition.
Almost anything that advances performance is published in a plan or 'how
to' very quickly.
We need to make sure there is a happy consensus regarding construction
rules and not a fractured argument.
The world of F1D is too small to endanger with infighting.
It's a glorious and eccentric activity that we should work together to
preserve.
