That is a saddening statistic. I have always thought that BOM rule
should be interpreted so that the single most important component of an
indoor model, the VP hub, should also be built by the flier. Or using a
bought hub is against the spirit of the BOM rule.

Having said that, I was pleased to find out that a rules interpretation
that would have obsoleted the majority of hubs (and thus models) was not
made a few weeks before the World Champs. That was a sport decision to
make. NOW that the Champs are past and there is over a year to the next
Euro Champs, and two years to the next WC, would be a good time to raise
the issue again.

My suggestion is to make a rules change proposal to the next CIAM
meeting (coming next month I think?), that the F1D (and other indoor
duration) class rules are changed to explicitly ban the use of bought VP
mechanisms. Any takers?
