Re: Re: Jury Statement on Purchased VP Hubs and ESTA reminder for the 2018 Indoor WC
"While the VP is an important part of the model in case the available height of the site is limited, a purchased MODEL is not in RTF state. The usage of such MODEL needs expertise, measurements and test flights to harmonize its setting with the size and setting of the prop and the rest of the model, rubber, available height and actual conditions in the site. Therefore, the jury agrees to continue the practice applied at several previous championships, i. e. not banning the usage of purchased MODELS."
Amazing how slippery that logic is.

While I do not agree with the logic, I commend the FAI Juryfor finally clarifying this issue. Thankyou, Leo, for bringing this to their attention. There is a certain genius in their ruling. It keeps the previous records intact, and removesa significant hurdle for the upcoming World Championships. These are good things. But it also leaves the door wide open for proposing changesgoing forward. For example, the BOM Ruleis not about adjusting things, it is about building them. The ruling, as it stands, can effectively beapplied to any model part, and in fact a complete model (assuming it has notalready been trimmed for the site). This puts the ball squarely back into the court of anyonewho wants the Builder of the Model rule to apply. The clear path toward that goal is nowthrough the rule change process.
