Unwanted model airplanes

A posting on another email list got me going again about this, and it applies doubly so to indoor models which are often trashed after their owners die. I had to oversee the destruction of probably 100+ indoor models recently because I simply didn't have the trunk space to take them all and was caught off guard that there were so many in this particular collection (and everything we didn't take was going into a dumpster two weeks later).

Bottom line, if you have free flight models you don't want and are about to trash/burn/etc, please, never, ever, ever throw away flyable models. There is always someone out there who can use them. If you can't find anyone, contact me and I'll make arrangements to get them into the hands of people who want them.

I've had to clean out several estates of deceased modeling friends and have ended up with a growing collection of historic models that probably belong in a museum somewhere. The ones that are more mundane (ha! someone put a lot of work into them either way!) have gotten passed along to interested parties.

Nothing ticks me off more than seeing photos from this contest or that where there's a model burning ceremony of perfectly good or even mildly damaged models. What a waste of energy, love, and time! Contact me before you do that and let's work out a solution!
