Since we're sort of on the same quest, this is what I have found.Naptha, MEK are no longer sold ( as we have found out) in California. They are available in neighboring states. Paint thinner (petroleum distillate) is very close to naptha and will dissolve Bestine, but I think it has a longer drying time. Might be worth trying.
For outdoor use and 1/4mil / 1/2mil mylar I have always used thinned Weldwood Contact cement. I thin it with MEK. Acetone and lacquer thinners do not work. On the recommendation of a local woodworking shop, my son brought over a can of Famowood, wood putty thinner. This works and is available locally (though hard to find).See:
