P-18 vs. AMA WS

There seems to be a number of people in favor of setting up an AMA version of the SO flying events as an alternative to the current P-18 proposal. I would like to hear from anyone who is OPPOSED to this idea. Would any of the P-18 advocates feel like their toes are being stepped on by such a move?

 

 I'm asking because it's likely that such a cross proposal will be submitted, and I personally believe that it can be written so that it will be acceptable as a cross proposal.
