Don,
I have tried twice to post my ideas to Indoor Construction without
success. Here is my brainstorm:
Taking an idea from the FAC “Kanone” award system and the altitude lapel
pin idea from SSA, why not recognize achievement of indoor tier times
such as 2 minutes, 4, 6, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 45, 60 with names of the
achievers posted in INAV. Indoor clubs could award colored tee shirts,
different colors corresponding to the tier achieved, to the achievers so
that they could be recognized at flying sessions. This would take the
“why should I fly indoor because I can’t beat the old pros” out of the
equation. Colored shirts could also allow novices to seek out experts
recognized by their special colored shirts for mentorship. I believe
that a 12-year old kid with a competitive attitude, stroked with a
4-minute tee shirt (when the time was achieved with any indoor model),
would continue to build and and fly in hopes of achieving the next
level to get the shirt, the status, and the name recognition in a
national publication.
