Do you know if kids get to pick the SO events they participate in or do
they sign up for a SO team then the teacher assigns events for a
student? That may explain their indifference. When I was in 5th or 6th
grade we had to go to "Hale Farm and Village" and dip string in molten
wax to make a candle because it was part of the assignment for the field
trip, not because I was particular interested in making a candle.
