Wright Stuff

Today, I spent 4 hours working with a local high school's Wright Stuff team. We focused on trim, adjusting prop pitch, matching the prop with the right motor density, and finding the right launch torque. I spent some time showing the students how to break in (two pre-winds) the motor so that its output is consistent on subsequent flights. At the end of the day, the students were able to launch the model to exactly the target height (22') on 6 straight flights using 3 different motors. And the model flew beautifully -- slow climb, cruise, and descent.

I will be building and flying a 2016 Wright Stuff model later this year, hopefully at USIC/Indoor Nats, where I hope to unseat Leop as the reigning Wright Stuff prince.
