I've seen or owned about 6 or 7 Oppegards going back to the earliest ones. All of the originals I've seen were the same. They did not have the plexiglas plates on top of the rubber transport that you see in the photos. They only had a small L-shaped metal "finger" that rotated over the top of the rubber channel to hold down the rubber strip.
The plexiglas plate modifications began in the late 90's as far as I know. Mike Kirda's photo shows a mod performed by Johnson/Geauga in the early 2000's.
