Dezso Orsovai was kind to share these photos. The balsa web for the the bearing is .~050" and thick enough to accommodate the left thrust set in the bearing. The bearing is first CA'ed to the web, then cross-directional silk (and Ambroid/Duco) is used to strengthen the joint.
