Between 3 and 3.5 hours, John.
Rantoul, IL is a 45' site. There are no amenities, but it quite flyable and multiple events could go on at the same time given some attention by the participants. The site has a very large floor (250' square).
CatII records have been set there in the past. There are lights that hang down a bit, but they shouldn't cause many hangups.
Barring any long-term rentals, I think it should be a good site for next year.
Jeff Annis and I had intended to rent it out for a day in the spring to fly there and check it out some more in anticipation of a fall contest. (With so many in the spring back to back, I get competition overload.) I'll keep on trying to get Urbana again, but who knows if that will pan out. With Rantoul we may not get the height, but the air seemed calmer, the floor larger and the inside contact quite easy and willing to work with us. They want us there.
What will be somewhat of an issue: No bathrooms in the building. There is a bathroom 1/4 mile away in the flight center. Rental costs would include porta-potties, but folks may not like that. A short drive to the flight center is the better option for many. Also no running water, so will have to bring a cooler/ice and bottled water.
All sound good to me but Kibbie. I have one air travel contest on my calendar already, not sure I could get another one.
Thanks for all the hard work, John.
Regards.
